Major Waterproofing Job In Harrisonburg, VA
Challenge
This project started with a very unusual home. The house is 13 years old, yet it was built over an existing basement/crawlspace that is about 50 to 60 years old. The homeowner stated that she thought the block walled basement was finished and that the crawlspace floor was much higher than the basement floor. Water damaged was detected in numerous places of the home. First, the bottom stair leading into the basement had water damaged. The homeowner said that most of the incoming water comes when there is heavy rain, but even when small rain showers occur, she is positive that water still finds its way into her home. Fortress Foundation Solutions detected that the water was coming in from a crack between her floor and the wall of the basement. The homeowner placed a temporary HVAC in the basement to help address this problem.
Solution
Fortress was able to find solutions to all of these problems and quickly implement them with a two day install. First, a DryTrak was put in the home; this is one of Fortress' most promising solutions when waterproofing. With the DryTrak, a feed line to the pump had to be put in. Four ThermalDry Wall Systems were placed in the home to help prevent future leaks into the basement. To address the home’s exterior damage, IceGuard was used. A SuperSump pumping system and pump discharge units were placed in the home as well to help with the drying of all the home’s damp areas. Fortress even cleaned up the lawn after all of this work was completed.
