Crawlspace Encapsulation - Shenandoah, VA

Challenge

  Fortress Foundation Solutions had a lady call into us with a huge complication she was tired of dealing with. Her crawlspace was taking on unceasing moisture, there was also active mold growing on the wood boards in the crawlspace. When her HVAC unit was turned on the mold would actually circulate through the home and caused her to have allergy like symptoms. In addition to those troubles, the floors in her home were also sagging. It was clear we had to make this right, not only for the sake of her home, but also for her health!

Solution

  After having one of our system designers, Paul Heckman, go out and give her a free estimate and establish a solid plan, we were ready to begin the installation process. Our foreman Brian Davis and his crew came out to begin transforming this crawlspace into a clean, dry area. 

  First and foremost, the mold had to be taken care of. The crew cleared out all of the mold with our Mold-X. Next, it was time to fix the sagging floors. The crew put in Smart Jacks to straighten and strengthen the floors above the crawlspace. 

  Finally, it was time to ensure the space would never take on moisture again. The crew put in a Clean Space vapor barrier on the walls and floors of the crawlspace to seal off any future water from getting in. This product also helps seals off cold drafts in the winter. Along with the liner, they also added our Sani-Dry Sedona, a dehumidifier that automatically controls humidity levels to prevent mold growth, wood rot, and odors.
