Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawlspace Encapsulation - Gladys, VA

After rain events this crawlspace in Gladys, VA was taking on water. This was causing the area to obtain heavy moisture and musty smells due to the water that was coming into the area and having no point of exit. After calling Fortress Foundation Solutions, our System Designer, Sonny Kingsbury was able to visit with these homeowners and provide a solution for this reoccurring issue. Sonny's solution was an encapsulation. While the materials used may vary from each home, Sonny knew that the materials he suggested for this home were the best solution. Our Foreman, David Bowers and his crew installed this system.

Crawlspace

This is the crawlspace before our crew started work. You can see the old thin plastic on the dirt floor. This plastic is not reliable as it is easy to move and damage.

EZ Flow

This step of the encapsulation involves digging a trench in the crawlspace. Once this area is dug our crew installed our EZ Flow. This pipe like material allows water to flow through it so it can go to the Sump Pump.

Discharge

Once the sump pump is installed, the crew installs a discharge. This discharge is responsible for carrying the water away from the home once it is pumped through the sump.

Smart Sump & SaniDry Dehumidifier

This photo features our Smart Sump and our SaniDry Dehumidifier. This dehumidifier also connects with the sump pump to empty out any moisture that comes into the crawlspace.

Cleanspace

This photo is the final result of the crews hard work. This cleanspace is wrapped around any supporting piers along with the floors and wall. It is a strong vapor barrier !
