Peter H. called Fortress Foundation Solutions after noticing very strong smells of cat pee through out his home. After investigating, he realized the smell was coming from moisture laden insulation in his crawl space. A System Designer met with Peter, inspected his crawl space and provided a free estimate for an encapsulation. Soon a Fortress crew was onsite installing drainage matting, CleanSpace vapor barrier and a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. The CleanSpace Vapor Barrier seals off the home from the damp/wet ground below. The SaniDry Sedona removes excess moisture, keeping the area dry and protecting the wood. Now when Peter looks into his crawl space now, it is clean, dry and he knows his home is protected!

A cat urine smell coming from a crawl space is most likely due to the decomposition of organic material in the soil beneath your house, which can emit an ammonia-like odor often mistaken for cat pee. This decomposition is made worse by moisture seeping into the soil.
