Bowing Walls - South Boston, VA
Challenge
A homeowner in South Boston, VA called Fortress Foundation Solutions with concerns about the safety of their foundation. They were experiencing moisture on their basement walls and also noticed that the wall was bowing. This is from constant inward force from the outside soils on the foundation walls, and once it reaches its limit it begins pushing the wall causing it to crack and bow inward.
Solution
After having our System Designer Zach Bullock come out to the home and evaluate the situation, he decided that our Geo Lock Wall Anchor system would be the perfect solution for these homeowners.
Following the result of the free estimate, one of our Foremen Robert Burger and his crew set out to the home to start the installation. To install the Geo Lock Wall Anchors, heavy duty anchors are embedded into stable soils away from the foundation wall, then they are connected to steel anchors which are placed on the affected wall with galvanized rods. Once the anchors are installed, the customer will actually be able to tighten the anchors during dry seasons and completely straighten their walls over time. The crew finished the project by covering the steel anchors on the basement wall with our Hide-A-Way Covers. Then to keep out any moisture, they put up our Clean Space liner. Fortress Foundation Solutions left these homeowners happy with their basement and it really made them feel better about the stability of their home!
