Carbon Armor & Push Pier Installation - Beaverdam, VA
Challenge
This home in Beaverdam, Virginia had some hairline cracks on their basement walls that grew over time and turned into stair-step cracks. This was caused by settlement of the foundation. The homeowner was concerned about the stability of his home, so he called Fortress Foundation Solutions to help him out. One of our System Designers Scott Lewellyn came out to the home to provide a free, no obligate estimate. Once the walkthrough was complete, Scott came to the conclusion that the best way to stop the foundation from settling any further would be to install our Carbon Armor straps and some of our Push Piers.
Solution
The customer agreed to this option, now it was time to install the products. Our Foreman Robert Burger took his crew to the home to start working. They began by installing the Push Piers next to the footings and attaching them to the foundation with a heavy duty steel bracket. The crew then backfilled the soil around the piers once stabilization and lifting was complete. This is a great option because it reaches greater depth than any other option, providing a huge confidence that it will keep the home stable.
After the Push Piers were installed, the crew began to install our Carbon Armor wall reinforcing system. The crew used high strength epoxy resin to bond the carbon fiber strips to the interior face of the wall. This will stabilize the wall and as a plus, it will not impact future basement finishing.
These two products working together will ensure that this home will say stable over time.
