This homeowner in Falling Waters, West Virginia was concerned with the stability of an exterior brick wall. They noticed the wall beginning to lean away from the dirt is was supporting, along with stair step cracking, which is a common symptom of settlement. A homeowner near Falling Waters, WV had been noticing several soft spots in her floor. She had a kitchen remodel a few years back and installed granite countertops, an island and a larger refrigerator. Now her floor was beginning to sag under the added weight. She reached out to Fortress Foundation Solutions. Our System Designer met with her, providing a free estimate for SmartJack® Crawl Space Stabilizers. These are an adjustable supplemental support system used for sagging crawl spaces. They not only provide supplemental support, but can often lift failing floor joists or beams, restoring them to their original position. Now this homeowner can confidently walk in her kitchen without feeling like she will fall through the floor!
The foundation in this basement was bowing and had horizontal cracks along the walls. Fortress installed Carbon Armor straps along the wall to stabalize the foundation.
Jack J of Madison, VA had been living in His home for the past 30 years. Since moving in, the foundation had a small horizontal crack along the front-facing wall. Over the last 3 years, the crack had gotten worse and that wall had started to bow inward. Our system designer, Jamey Elder, recommended installing GeoLock earth anchors along the front-facing foundation wall and Jack agreed. Foreman Toby Bryant, and his crew installed 7 GeoLocks, securing this foundation wall and preventing any further damage.
This house in Madison Heights suffered from bad vertical cracks on the outside of the house. This was due to the house sinking and settling. Fortress solved this issue by installing several Push Piers along the outside of the house to support and stabilize the foundation.
